Obstetrics deals with the care of women during the many stages of pregnancy or gestation, from conception to child birth, whereas gynaecology deals with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases affecting the female reproductive system.
Obstetrics focuses on the care given during the three trimesters of the pregnancy for both the mother and the foetus until delivery. Many tests are conducted to evaluate the development and safety.
In gynaecology, many disorders affecting the female reproductive system are diagnosed and treated.
